Consciousness is a constant expanding and contracting process of the brain. The brain widens and opens when it is digesting new information and then contracts when information is being expressed through your waking, conscious mind. You condense your attention when you need to do something like balance a checkbook or if you’re required to do something logically. When we are in this state of consciousness, we are in the “Beta” brainstate where your brain is oscillating at about 13-50 cycles per second. Think about this state and realize that you are in high gear most of your working day. It is important that you relax, gently slow it down and enter into a quieter place before you go to sleep at night. Be gentle with your transition.
