In order to understand how Alpha healing takes place it is important first to understand the four main brainwave frequencies and how your brain contributes to your state of mind, As spiritual beings most of us desire to live a more whole and complete life encompassing well-being in our mind, body and spirit. The scientific study of brain wave frequency is a key stepping stone to this understanding and undertaking. Science is finally merging with what spiritual masters have claimed all along – that the healing powers of meditation are in fact altered states of consciousness in which the brain vibrates at different frequencies. As such, we become the controllers of our reality which is made up of our thoughts and beliefs. Therefore, by learning about the different states of consciousness and the waves that are associated with them we can open up our subconscious mind and re-create our reality.
There are four main brain waves each operating at a different frequency; thus representing different states of consciousness from deep sleep to complete alertness. They are: Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta.
The Beta state is the most fast moving. It is the state of logic and reasoning and full consciousness. Although important for the functioning of daily life; beta can also lead to stress, anxiety and chaos. Beta has been described as your inner critic knocking out all creative thinking. Most adults are in Beta most of the time.
The Alpha state represents deep relaxation. It is referred to as the day dreaming state or a light meditative state. It is optimum for creative visualization, imagination, learning and memory. Alpha is symbolized in those moments before full wakefulness, it is the bridge between the conscious and subconscious. It is the voice of your intuition, your soul’s program. It allows for creative thoughts and the release of stress hormones.
The Theta state is a deep meditative state or often referred to as the dream state. It is the state that is used in hypnosis. It is believed to be very creative, inspirational and spiritual. This state is characterized as a state of trance in which you are completely absorbed and below the conscious level.
The Delta state is one of deep sleep; when you are barely moving. It is a very slow moving wave with low frequency. It is the realm of your unconscious mind, and the gateway to the universal mind and the collective unconscious, where information received is otherwise unavailable at the conscious level.
It is in the Alpha state that we can effect change in our lives. The change comes in using this state of consciousness to deliberately alter our thoughts and thought processes in creating a different outcome. We have the opportunity and capability to create the life we want including; prosperity, health and well-being as well as our relationships with others.
